Delhi:The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art hosted Gauri & Nainika's
Spring Summer 2018 fashion show in the capital. An interesting amalgamation
of fashion & art elements had the audience mesmerized. Gauri &
Nainika's Spring-Summer 18 presentation had models walking through the
galleries of the museum against a backdrop of the most significant art
works by India's greatest masters. Deepika Padukone, Bollywood sensation
was the showstopper for this show. Deepika looked spectacular in Gauri
& Nainika's grand creation, her gown was designed in tulle and crepe
with a fitted upper body with hand embroidered tulips on it. The gown
is very voluminous with close to 300 yards of tulle used to make it. The
texturing has been done in dip dyed tulle that gives it a feathered and
dreamy look and feel. The fitted bodice also has shaded wine coloured
tulle draped on it.
The
Kiran Nadar Museum of Arts is an enchanting space that houses some of
the most exclusive pieces of art from all over the country. Spear headed
by art lover Kiran Nadar this museum is home to modern contemporyartwork
by some of the most renowned artistslike MF Hussain, Souza & SH Raza.
The
show was an extravaganza of 45 exquisite styles for women. Before the
show guests were seen sipping cocktails and admiring the artwork and instillation's
at the museum. Present at this show were a list of eminent attendees,
some of them include, Suhel Seth, Tanisha Mohan, Roshini Vadehra, Soni
Aggarwal, Shivan & Narresh, Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna, Siddartha
Tytler, Chetan Seth, V Sunil,. Abhishek Gupta, Prateek Jain, Pia Pauro,
Suneet Verma & Archana Vijaya& many more.
Paying
homage to Paris of the 50s, the Gauri & Nainika SS18 collection features
romantic dresses and gowns with silhouettes that evoke The New Look. Billowing
skirts with flouncing crinolines and nipped waists fashioned in yards
of unending tulle, leggy high-lows in sculptural silk gazar, whimsical
flowers and textures on demure dresses are some of the highlights of the
collection. The show also marks the designers foray into demi couture
with some pieces being embellished with minimal and understated hand embroidery
adding a hint of sparkle to the line.
On
this occasion Kiran Nadar said, "Raza's precision, Souza's emotions
& Husain's strokes were a masterpiece setting for an amazing show
by Gauri & Nainika. It was a delightful experience for anyone who
appreciates all things beautiful and of course, Deepika brought it home".

designers Gauri & Nainika shared a few words, "This collection
is extremely close to our heart... because of our parents love for gardening
we have literally grown up surrounded by flowers, hence flowers and gardens
have always been an inspiring element for us. The Kiran Nadar Museum of
Art plays an important role as it gives the whole show a unique concept,
fashion and art have time honoured relationship and have always inspired
each other and lead to the best of collaborations... the Museum made a
perfect setting for the evening. Deepika Padukone looked mesmerizing in
the custom made ensemble that was created specially for her, she carried
if off with her so much poise and grace...
It is definitely a proud moment for us to see this collection come alive
in such a unique way."
